Poetry

Rudy/Molly is a sonnet sequence focused on two characters— both me, I suppose— who

ignore,

avoid,

disparage,

argue,

fight,

and break down

in front of each other.

[Read about why I wrote this collection here]

Each piece from this collection is based on a song that was meaningful from the year I turned 17 (1993).

This project ultimately became source material for a linked EP, called “Amped ’93”.

The poem “They never turn the white lights on” won the 2021 Orton poetry competition.

This collection is based on my reflections on a playing fields close to where I grew up in the South Manchester suburbs, and where, after many years living abroad, I find myself living very close to again.

It’s a seemingly mundane space, but has ended up being the foundation for so many important moments throughout my young, teenage and now adult life.

This project ultimately bacame source material for a linked EP, called “Bonfire Night”.

This collection is about my journey, over the summer of 2017, into and out of darkness.

This collection of poems is about my developing understanding of what it is to love someone.
